It's official: today, Saturday 8th March 2014, was the warmest ever since the KMI (institute for weather forecasts) began it's studies in 1837. We got a temperature of 19° Celsius - which we often don't have in summer! And tomorrow will be even warmer...
Today was the day you could sent a postcard to family spending the holiday in Turkey or Greece: it's way warmer here than there. In the countries mentioned they didn't get more than 14°, and at other places around the Mediteranean even less.
We haven't had a winter either. We had a splendid summer (very sunny weather in July and August) and then we only got autumn. Even in December and January the temperature was above normal.
Thousands of people came to the coast to spend the first beautiful weekend there. And also lots of other open air attractions will draw lots of folks. Most of the cafés have taken in more drink for this weekend. Some parks are open for the first open air barbecues...
We love the sun here in Belgium. We don't often see it, that's why. So whenever we get some sun, we all come outside to take advantage of it.
