Who's afraid to be vaccinated?

I don't know how the situation is in your country, but here in Belgium there is a clear difference between Flanders and Wallony/Brussels. In the Flemish speaking part of the country, about 94% of the people want to get their vaccin against Covid-19. But in the Brussels region and in Wallony (places where they speak French), just around 50% are willing.

This can be explained because the French speaking part of our population is closer to France, where people are also less keen on being vaccinated.

The antivaxers have the strangest beliefs. When you look at messages on social media, you can read stories about how having a vaccin would prevent you from getting pregnant; that the vaccin contains a chip (or even an embryo); ... The craziest things first.

How can you ever be so foolish? Getting the vaccin is good. The more people get it, the better as the group immunity will increase. And what can a vaccin do? Give you a (light) headache? A bit stiffness around the place where the needle went? It's quite rare that you get serious side-effects. I've had several vaccinations (against cholera, yellow fever, ...) and never experienced a problem. My sister (who's number one is scoring side-effects) once got a swollen arm for two days or so.

I'm looking forward to the day that I'll get my first shot. Like it looks today, that will be somewhere in April. In the previous vaccination planning the government reckoned with AstraZeneca to be distributed to larger groups of people because they ordered more millions of it. But now they've made the restriction that AstraZeneca will only be given to people aged 19 to 55. Those older will have to get another vaccin. Personally I'd rather have Pfizer or Moderna - or Johnson&Johnson when that one gets approved.

Have you been vaccinated already? Reactions are always welcome!
